Minhwa artist and educator based in Northern California
Seon-Young Jeong is a Korean-born artist and educator specializing in Minhwa, the traditional folk painting of Korea's Joseon Dynasty. She applies ink and natural pigments to hanji (Korean mulberry paper), preserving the flattened space, decorative rhythm, and layered symbolism that define Minhwa while expanding its conceptual possibilities to reflect contemporary life. Her recent work explores the invisible threads that connect human identity — from cultural heritage and language to the bonds between people and communities.
